3 Reasons Introverts Love Scuba Diving

When you think of scuba diving you may think of going out on a boat with several other divers or certainly diving with, at least, a buddy. Therefore, you may not think that this is an activity to which introverts would be attracted. But, you may be wrong.

Following are 3 reasons why introverts love scuba diving (from an article by Natalie Gibb).

1. It is Peaceful and Quiet

Introverts hate interruptions – the phone rings, someone knocks on your door, constant e-mails, and technology in general. None of this exists while you’re are diving. It is a calm and quiet environment where you can just drift and enjoy the view. Even if you are with a group you don’t really have to interact with them. You certainly don’t have to carry on a conversation.

2. Social Interactions without the Superficiality

It’s not that introverts dislike social interactions, it’s that they hate the fluff. Most of them prefer to talk about something meaningful or nothing at all. Diving provides a common conversational topic that all members of the discussion are truly interested in.

3. It’s Easy to Get Really Into Scuba Diving

What do introverts love? Finding something they are excited about and then totally geeking out about the topic. There is so much to learn – places to go, various equipment, fish identification, and a host of other topics. And they can find so many others with whom to share their interest. They can spend an entire lifetime learning and sharing.

Scuba diving is obviously not just for introverts. But an added benefit is that if an introvert wants to move more towards being an extrovert, there is a whole ocean waiting for them.
