If you’re in the Ocala, Florida area on the weekend of March 19 and 20, you may want to check out the following event.

Sea Hunt

Mike Nelson, Sea Hunt TV Series

History will come to life at Florida’s famous Silver Springs State Park with the Sea Hunt Forever event the weekend of March 19th and 20th 2016.  Sea Hunt Forever is devoted to the memory of the television show Sea Hunt that aired from 1958 to 1961 and helped introduce the world to the sport of SCUBA diving. At Sea Hunt Forever visitors can relive the excitement of the original TV series with displays of vintage dive gear, show celebrities, and underwater reenactments. Divers and collectors from around the world will be on-hand to answer questions and to share the memories.

It is a festival to promote springs preservation through awareness and stewardship. Held at Silver Springs State Park near Ocala, Florida, the event will feature environmental speakers, educational displays, ranger programs, guided tours, food, entertainment, a student art show, silent auction, and more. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of Silver Springs, learn about springs conservation and take part in the excitement of Sea Hunt Forever all in one action packed weekend.

Back when the sport of SCUBA diving was still new actor Lloyd Bridges starred in 155 episodes of the TV Show Sea Hunt and brought the underwater adventures of former Navy Frogman Mike Nelson into our living rooms. These action packed shows introduced an entire generation to the sport and undoubtedly caused many of us to become SCUBA divers. Many of the shows were filmed in the beautiful clear waters of Silver Springs and Sea Hunt Forever promises to bring it all back to life again.

The event features live underwater reenactments of scenes from the television show. More than 30 divers using only authentic vintage SCUBA gear, matching what would have been used in the show, will perform underwater stunts that are viewable from Silver Springs’ famous Glass Bottomed Boats.

You can also find Sea Hunt memorabilia in a large display from a collection of memorabilia, props, and artifacts from the original Sea Hunt TV series.

March 19th and 20th promises to be a fun and exciting weekend to be at Florida’s Silver Springs State Park for Sea Hunt Forever. The entire family will enjoy the natural beauty of one of Florida’s largest springs while they learn about the ecology of these natural wonders at The Florida Springs Fest.
