| The “Bloop Beast”
In 1997, an array of hydrophones, special underwater microphones used by scientists to study happenings under the ocean, detected an extremely loud and low frequency sound that was able to be heard more than 3000 miles away from its source.
The sound, when sped up, sounds a bit like “bloop!”. Let’s call this creature the Bloop Beast.
There is some speculation as to what caused this. Could it have been an as-yet-unknown sea creature? If so, it would have to be many times larger than a blue whale, nearly as long as the Eiffel Tower is tall. Or could it be something more mysterious or even foreign?
Here’s the mysterious story.
