The following video describes a plethora of equipment that is necessary to go scuba diving. However, purchase of this equipment should probably be reserved for the more serious of divers. For the beginners or occasional divers all of this can be rented – but is still necessary.

There is a third option and that is to purchase items piece meal. For example, the fit of your mask is so critical that it may be a good point to start. If you need to wear corrective lenses then having your own mask with correction would be a great place to start.
